SMCC Members

Our SMCC members fill out the stat board at end of each race before being able to recieve prizes. If you do not have a bike computer, please ask your fellow grade competitors for results and enter that result. The results work on averages across many riders.

How fast do cyclists go? Use the handy speed gear calculator here

The cycling results table above shows the spread across all rides in average output. It shows the results entered by cyclists after each event onto the SMCC results board. The number of rides includes summer and winter events and any special cycling events in Australia or represented racing. The Avg Time is compared to all events, along with Avg Speed. The Avg Max Speed is a combination of downhill or sprint.

Compare the speeds of a racing peloton to those of your weekend riding along Beach Road in Melbourne, many riders join Southern to extend their riding enjoyment. The Beach Road is fun, racing is better.

This year in the Tour de France, stage 16 saw riders average 47.5 kmh in the 1st hour of racing, then cap 43 kmh per hour for the 5th hour. Wow! thats special. Compare that to the speeds above and our club has very impressive riders in all grades. Riders from all over Australia, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide etc all ride with Southern. Interstate and International cycle riders welcome.

When you're coming to Melbourne, be sure to ride with Southern.
